Fremont, CA, May, 2011 – IEM recently completed the design of a relay class CT (current transformer) for its Vesta-AR™ medium-voltage metal-clad arc-resistantswitchgear. IEM’s custom relay class CT is now available in a variety of ratios from 50:5 through 1200:5 for the 15kV, 1200A-rated switchgear. The relay class CT has high accuracy to C-100 (1200:5 CT ratio) to meet the stringent requirements for protection of critical facility applications such as hospitals and data centers. The UL listing of the relay class CT adds to the high accuracy metering class CT that was already a part of the VESTA-AR switchgear offering.

“The design of the relay class CT was quite challenging and IEM recently completed the design utilizing custom injection mold technology,” said Ashok Kulkarni, Vice President of Engineering at IEM. “The CT core and coil design was completed in collaboration with ABB to IEM’s exacting design requirements.”
